The lines food service actually gets asked for
Placed as one program across 100+ carriers, so the gaps between policies belong to someone rather than falling between two brokers.
General Liability
Slips, trips and premises claims out front, plus the foodborne illness exposure that follows every plate you send out.
Liquor Liability
Dram shop cover written to what your liquor license and your lease actually require, with the assault and battery sublimit checked rather than assumed.
Workers Compensation
Burns, cuts and slips are the kitchen. Cover for tipped and back-of-house staff, with class codes reviewed before we market it.
Property and Business Income
Your build-out, contents and kitchen equipment, plus the income you lose while the doors are shut after a claim.
Equipment Breakdown and Spoilage
The walk-in fails on a Friday. Cover for the unit and for the product inside it.
Employment Practices Liability
Wage and hour, harassment and discrimination claims. Food service sees more of these than almost any industry and carries it least often.
Hired and Non-Owned Auto
Delivery exposure when staff use their own vehicles, which your personal auto policy will not answer for.
Wherever you serve it
Full-service restaurants
Quick service and fast casual
Bars and taverns
Breweries and taprooms
Cafes and coffee shops

Restaurant insurance questions, answered
What insurance does a restaurant need?
Most restaurants carry general liability, workers compensation, and property with business income as the base, then add liquor liability if they serve alcohol, equipment breakdown and spoilage for the kitchen, and employment practices liability for the staff. Your lease and your liquor license usually set the floor on limits, and those requirements vary by state, by landlord and by venue.
Do I need liquor liability if I only serve beer and wine?
Usually yes. Dram shop liability attaches to serving alcohol rather than to how strong it is, and many states apply it to beer and wine service exactly as they do to spirits. Your lease and your liquor license often require the coverage in writing regardless of what you pour.
Why does my landlord keep rejecting my certificate?
Usually one of three things: the landlord, property manager or lender is not named as additional insured with the wording the lease specifies, the liquor liability limit sits below what the lease requires, or an assault and battery sublimit has quietly capped the cover at a token amount. All three are visible on the certificate before anyone rejects it.
How is Aiden Risk different from my current broker?
Most brokers place a policy and come back at renewal. Aiden Risk monitors 140+ risk signals year-round, so when you add a patio, extend your hours or start delivering, the gap surfaces then rather than twelve months later. Every account still has a licensed specialist on it.
Not sure whether your landlord would accept your certificate? Run it through the free COI checker.
